Belt Squeek
My 96 F150 302 has a constant squeek under the hood. It seems worse when it rains. Anyone else have the same problem? I think it is from the belt but it was replaced but now is steadily getting worse.. Any I deas on what the problem is? Thanks..

Its likely to be the idler pulley. They are a wear item and resonably priced. One suggested trick is to listen thru a cardboard tube (a la christmas wrapping paper) to help point you to the noisy culprit.

Agree with Popa Tim,every Ford I own/have owned with a serpentine belt does it.For the record my boss has a '94 that was at the dealer for some warranty things awhile back and they replaced his belt (free,go figure) said it was common problem,get this," the part number stamped on the belt squeaks when it makes contact with the idler/tensioner".
