Question 2100 2bbl question

Just got a rebuilt Holley for my 302. My motor was set-up with a manual choke. The new carb is built for a carb heat tube for choke. Of course the heat tube set up on mine has been long gone; don't even know what it looks like.

Any suggestions? What is the down side of using the manual choke? Are parts available to reinstall the heat tube?

Help please!

Mike

I would not use the heat tube, I have never the heat tube choke work properly. I would buy a conversion kit for the Holley carb.

Go to your local auto parts store and get a choke stove kit...it is about $20.00 It comes with an adapter plate that clamps to your exhaust pipe and has a piece of aluminim tube with a connector that attaches to the heat riser connector on the carb. I ran one for quite a while until I got a carb w/ an electric choke.

That heat tube was just a steel 1/4'' tubing with a cover on it to retain the heat in. No big deal. It just runs into the exh manifold. If it's broken off inside the manifold Drill it out. All it does is suck hot air to heat the choke spring inside too back the choke off. my 2cents

Thanks for the advice guys. I installed the carb with the old manual choke. The new carb runs sooooo much smoother I don't think I will need to mess with the choke afterall.
