gauges

i've got a '94 ranger with a 4.0L and 5-speed manual and am having issues with the oil pressure, temperatrue, and volt gauges. When I'm going down the road at a constant RPM or sitting still, those 3 gauges will begin to move a lot. I'm assuming that the volt gauge is due to the alternator since it goes down a little bit and then right back up when i change RPMs. The oil pressure will go high until i push the pedal back down, then it returns to normal. The temperature does the same thing as the oil pressure. It goes up and the right back down when i press the pedal. Everything is still reading in the "NORMAL" range. I noticed that after i restart the truck, all of the gauges read fine until i begin going down the road. If anyone has ever experienced this or has any advice/tips, i would appreciate it. If you need more information on what is going on, let me know.

If all the gauges peg at the same time and then return to normal, I would suspect the IVT. Instrument Voltage Transformer. It cuts the 12V signal down to something like 1.5V to power the gauges. When mine did the peg routine, I would gently tap on the top of the instrument panel and then would read normal. The IVT is a small silver plug in module on the pack of the instrument panel. Seem to remember it was about 1/2 inch by 1 inch.
