Im looking for a good carb setup for my 360 in my 53 ford. Can you fellas give me some ideas for my 2barrell intake stock. Like holley 500cfm or something like that and location on buying the item, i have slightly cammed up a bit but just for sound and rumble -no racing.. Thanks so much.
360 in a 1953 Ford? That doesn't sound right, the 360 was only a pickup truck motor, and only from 1968 to 1976. I suppose it could be a swap though.
That said, any 2 barrel intake should be as good as any other AFAIK. Best you can do is put a Holley 500cfm carb on it. Jegs should have 'em, as well as any other place that sells carburetors.
I've never heard "360" and "Hot Rod" used to describe the same thing! If you want the truth, most guys swap out the crank, rods and pistons to make 'em a 390. Then we port the heads, cam it up, and put a 4 barrel intake, 600cfm carb and headers on it. THEN you have a hot rod! Edit: IMHO, this would be your best option for power / performance per dollar.
Still, I'd think that 360 is probably quite an improvement over the engine that was in it.
