I just gor my truck about two weeks ago and I did a full tune up, and relaced the tranny mount and motor mounts, which were all original. But the engine idles a little rough, it doesn't die out though. Is this characteristic of this engine or do i need to rebuild the carb or something, Thanks
I have a 67 240 that I took out and replaced with a 300 with headers, intake and a 4brl holley. The 240 I have has 98,000 miles on it and it runs great with all the stock stuff. Even in the winter on the coldest days it fired up on the first try. It should run smooth. Check your timing, distributor wear and carb. Mine had a one barrel. Point gap may be incorrect as well. Hope this helps.
I have a 1970 F-250 with a 302. My truck had a rough idle too. I replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and still nothing. I was going to replace the points next, but just insted I replace the distritutor. That was the problem. Now it idles like a champ.
It's smooth as can be once it's revved up or is cruising,it only does this at an idle. I cleaned the points and the gap was already right, they looked kinda new. It smells alittle rich at idle also, but it sound like its missing at idle, when I crank it up cold you have to pat the gas while it's running you can't just hold it down 1/4 way or anything, you have to hit it and then let off or it will die. Thanks for the help y'all
