Throttle body spacers?
In some of the magazines, I've seen what are being called "throttle body spacers," which appear to lift the throttle body up a bit, supposedly with an increase in performance--power, mpg. Has anyone tried one of these things? Looks like more snake oil to me, but sometimes unusual ideas pay off. For now, I'm holding onto my $. Thanks! :-)

I have a TB spacer in my truck and what it does is give me more seat of the pants power, and definatly better throttle response, the pedal is harder to find the sweet spot when trying to cruise at 65 but thats the price you pay!

I'm not exactly sure, but I think a Speed Density computer would give problems with a spacer. That might be something to consider before buying.

Pastmaster: Ok, good to know, but does my '89 351 windsor have a "Speed Density Computer"? Do you think the TB spacer manufacturer would know if their product could mess up my rig? Thanks.

Mnt Scott: If your's is still factory it would be Speed Density. The way you can tell is if you have 2 seperate hoses from the Tb to the box, it would be Speed Density. I have a 1989 F-150 with a 302 that is my farm truck and it too is a speed density. 1994 was the change. You might be able to get your answer from a company directly. I personally don't know of anyone that has done a spacer on our era of trucks.
