Engine Buying Advice

LAST EDITED ON 24-Sep-00 AT 06:55 PM (EST)[p]I need a 460 long block engine for my 89 Ford 3 speed automatic, air loaded xlt. Which motors should I go with? A Ford or a aftermarket long block engine? Around how much do they cost? Any warrantees? Which warrantees are good? I need a few recommendations from you experts out there. I also own a vangon and ---snip----. What is a fair price for installation? Are the motors around $2500 dollars? And adding extras of course water pump, thermostat, etc. I need some good advice. Thank you very much!

Generally you can expect to spend anywhere from
$2100 to $5000 on a 460 long block. Performance
Automotive Warehouse, Summit Racing, WWW.Ford-power.com, Jasper Engine and Transmission, www.Automotiveengine.com and www.oemfordparts.com are a few sources that are worth looking into. Warranties will range from 3mo
to a year or more. Installation fees will vary from location to location, but I would suspect at least $500 unless the place you purchase the engine also does installations, then you may get by cheaper.

I am sorry for the sentance my son put in. He does the posting's because he can type faster then I can. He was sorry about writing that message. He was only goofing around with me and forgot to delete it before he posted it. He and I am sorry for any inconvenience. And he is grounded from the computer for a month. Thank you for still replying about my engine!

I must admit I was a bit perplexed by the statement, but thought I would ignore it and respond anyway (an attempt at embracing Diversity, at least thats what the catch-phrase is nowadays).
I am sure you are not the only person ever to post something unintentionally.
