Before tearing into my tranny and rebuilding it, ect, I am curious if there is any other possible problems that could be causing this.
I have a 91 F250 460 E4OD, and at about 35-50 it bounces like rail road tracks. I heard a site say this is a common problems on the early E4OD's and its the Torque Converter. If it is the torque converter with 160k miles on my truck I will rebuild to the tranny while I am it.
Also I have a wierd clicking sound. I am not quiet 100% sure how to describe it. It seems like it happens at wierd times. Sometimes it will go click, click, click, click, click when I accelerate, sometimes it won't. Sounds like its coming from the back, maybe a U-Joint?
The only good way to check a U-joint is to take the drive line out and toggle the joint back and forth. They should move easy and smoothly in all directions. Many times what looks like a good joint with no slack is in fact worn out. Also if you have two piece drive line make sure the slip joint is aligned properly. It would definatly be to your advantage to check the whole drivetrain before peeling the tranny out.
