I don't know much about it but I towed my 8000 pound travel trailer with it for the first time last weekend and it worked great. Set the brake controller at 5.5 and gradually increased to 7.0 which seemed about right. Tow/haul feature worked great on level and down a steep grade to the Mississippi river.

Yes, it uses vehicle speed as well as ABS inputs and the amount of pressure in the braking system to determine power to the trailer brakes.

Thanks. By using ABS inputs does it backoff the trailer brakes to avoid jacknifing when the p/u brakes show lockup?

I believe it works something like that, Im not 100% sure on the particulars of it, I just know that it works with the ABS to optimize braking interaction between the two.
