Hey I'm from Dallas also, I think I've seen that truck before doc526. I ain't gotta 4X4 either, I'm fixing up my 72' lima bean colored SB Custom. you won't see me at Big Tower or Lucus road in my truck but ya might see me at the drag strip!
Yeah, I took it off the road about a year ago to finish it. Once its finished Im gonna head to the dragstrip. The only time I have been to Big Tower was on the dirtbike. Kinda sucks that they closed it down.
Where in Dallas are ya? Im about 4 miles from Paulding Co. HS.
Yeah that sucks about Big Tower but Lucus rd is probably better anyway! I'm about 3/4 mile away from East Paulding High, you can hear the beautiful sounds of the dragstrip every weekend night, sometimes I can even get a smell of that sweet race gas, ain't Paulding county great!! you might have seen my old truck around all the kids seemed to know it, it's a 70' Candy Apple Red F-100 SB, it had a nice shiny paint job and solid Mag wheels, you couldn't miss the sound it has a 302 with a big cam, headers and turn down exhaust.

PC is great!!. I have never been to Lucas Rd, gonna have to go up there one day. A buddy of mine used to live up near the track, it was cool to hear them running at dusk. Ill keep a lookout for your ride.
Doc and Ryan.
You guys are not far from me, Douglasville. I'm off 92 around Brownsville Rd. Close to Greystone Power. I was at the strip last Friday, and will be there on July 9 for the 50th anniversary race, lots of nostalgia funny cars will be there.
Cool deal, Yeah, Lucas road and Big Tower are off road areas but Big Tower is closed. I used to take my dirtbike there. I have never been to Lucas road though. Maybe we all can meet sometime in the D'ville or Dallas area. I dont know if I will make the 9th drag though. Gotta see whats happening that weekend.
Yep I'm going to go to the strip this Friday, and I'll make sure to make it on the 9th, wife and weather permitting!! BTW Lucas rd is off of Dallas-Cartersville hwy way out in the middle of nothing. It's, IMO, better than Big Tower b/c there are less houses and people out there!
Ryan, can you give me some directions to Lucas Rd.?
Is that the place close to the Cartersville airport?
We should all meet up, I may need to look at docs truck while I'm assembling mine. Major drawback was buying a basket case, lots of parts missing that I know of, lots more that I don't know about yet. Cab is coming off and frame going to the body shop for paint real soon.
Yeah maybe we could meet up that would be cool. Lucas rd is closer to Dallas than cartersville, you just go south on 61 and then after you get into Paulding county start looking for Cochran rd, it's a gravel rd, you follow it it crosses a paved rd then you just keep on going till you ht a fork and then you turn left and go until you find a suitable place to get onto the power lines. It's real fun with a 4-wheeler.
ccode, I dont have the '49 on the road anymore as I am getting ready to take it apart for the final buildup, but I will be glad to answer any questions that you might have.
When would you guys like to meet ? Im pretty flexible on my scheduale.
Well there's Fordstock this Saturday at Hard Labor Creek State Park. Or we could meet at Lucas rd since y'all ain't been there I was thinkin about going tonight, if I can use my friends 4-wheeler. If it ain't raining I'll be up at the strip tomorrow night in my truck, not racing though the old I6 is made for that!
I have class tonight (in college) and cant go during the day this Sat. since I have to make up some tests. Maybe can meet you all up at the drags on Friday. Will find out tomorrow.
if y'all are going to the strip on Friday maybe we could meet up at a specific location, or someones truck , I'll be driving mine, ya can't miss it, I'll make a gallery soon so you'll know what it looks like.
