I'm getting all the nessisary stuff to take out my interior for the vinyl installation. The gear stick is a pain to take out/put in. There HAS to be an easier way to take the gear stick out of that NP 435. I have sprayed the seat belt torx bolts with WD 40 and cleaned all the sand out of them so the tork bit gets a good bite.
Question: I have speakers behind the seat screwed down to the floor and the bolts that hold my seat down. How do I know where to cut an X for the wholes? Do I just "feel" with a ball point pen? What size torx bit does the seat belts take?
Dustin
The last time I had to do that, I was putting house hold carpet in a 77 GMC with no padding. I removed everything to have a clean floor, and then I ran the bolts and screws in their holes but I let them stick up a ways so I would know where to cut with the knife. You could also not put any bolts in, just lay the carpet, and go underneath the truck and spray some water or WD-40 or spray paint through the bolt/screw holes on to the underpadding to mark where the X-slice will be, but if you use spray paint shoot some WD-40 in the threads for the seat/seatbelt holes 1st so the paint doesn't act like Lock-tite on the bolts.
Hope this helps
