2007 is when the Super Duty will be redone. Ford will also be unveiling a new diesel engine rumored to have twin turbos. Since Ford's contract expires with Navistar in 2006, it's possible that the next diesel engine Ford offers may not be the Power Stroke. But, if Ford renews the contract, then the Power Stroke will be back. Just not as a 6.0.
I don't think Ford's contract with Navistar expires in 2006! But 2006/7 brings us even tighter diesel emissions regs, and ultra-low-sulfur diesel fuel (ULSD) so everyone is going to have to come out with a modified engine, and I bet prices are going to go up too.
The most solid rumors have the next powerstroke being the 6.0 bored and/or stroked out to a slightly larger capacity, twin turbos, and different injectors (woohoo!). A couple of years ago it was stated that Navistar was abandoning HEUI and getting on the HPCR bandwagon with everyone else. Given the G2 injector problems (both technically, and with Cat suing them) that wouldn't surprise me at all.
