T-18 2wd to NP 435/208 4x4 HELP
I haven't gotten the tranny pulled outta my 1967 F100 yet, but it is a T-18 2wd tranny. The pickup was a 2wd, but it is all converted to 4x4 and the next item to-do is put in my 4x4 tranny. Does anyone know if the input shafts are the same on the two trannies? Right now that is my biggest concern, if they aren't are they interchangeable? Also, what clutch should I look for? The specs on the truck are: built 390, 4.10 gears, 36" TSL Radials.
The NP 435/208 combo came from an '83 F150, what are some things I should do to check out this tranny? What fluids should I run, etc? Sorry for the newb questions, but this is my first ever experience with a manual tranny. I've been a C6 guy.......

All I can offer is the auto trans have to have the rear output shaft swapped because a 4x2 and a 4x4 shafts are different lengths. I would guess that the same is true the manual trans. Plus I believe the 4x4 adapter or extension between the t-case and the trans is different between the t-18 and the 435.

The input shaft on a T18 and NP435 are the same spline count (10 spline). The NP435 should bolt right up in place of the T18. The only thing you would probably have to do is move the crossmember in order to bolt up the transmission mount and obviously swap the driveshafts.
Good luck with the swap.
Good luck with the swap.
