need disc brake help
since the pass. side was noisy and my brakes felt alittle spongy, i decided to bled them. the lightest touch on my brakes stop the chatter so i figured they might shut up if bleed.
the fluid was brown and i plan to flush it for new once i'm sure i have no other issues.
heres the thing, after finishing bleeding, the brakes were as tight as i've had them. no play. but as i turned the key, the brakes lowered back to their mushy feel. i don't know if this happened with the key to acc. or on.
if it lost tightness while "on" i'm thinking maybe a vacuum issue at the power boost. if it was acc. then i'm not sure, abs?
anyway does this make any sense?. brakes feel tight after bleeding then your foot drops after turning the key.
my plan is to pull the caliper. check for leaks. clean and appy grease to the pin rails. bend my pads tabs abit. possibly add the shims motorcraft sells and apply"disc brake quiet"
that should seat the pad but i'm troubled by what happened when i started her.
also noticed a slight film on both rotors. is that somewhat normal?. i figure i'll clean them after checking for leaks. i'll check the drum too to see if there adjusting properly.
any info, especially what happened after turning the key, would really help thanks.
Did this just start happening? Did you recently have any brake work done?
