I followed the K&N and Thermal wrap from HomeDepot on my old Bronco (traded it about a month ago) and it did great for the gas mileage! I plan on doing the same thing to the F150
Yup that's right AirForce 1 one bad intake kit just released the info today it was 2 years in the making ,so they will be getting my money and i will take that extra HP all 25 Sweet
Ford has spent a lot of time and money designing their intakes, so to think that you HAVE to change them, is silliness. From the factory, the intakes have a good flow path to the throttle body, as well as already pull cold air from the fender. With the addition of a good flowing medium, as well as thermally insulating the incoming air charge from the ambient engine temperature, and you have a surefire solution. Don't forget to take note about the % increase in power (inverse to incoming air charge temperature). But thats just my two cents...
I was planning to modify the stock intake (cut and plug baffles, thermal insulate, and increase intake hole size) but found it quiker easier and relatively cheap to add the Airaid intake tube. I definitely got more hp and torque response from doing so. If I add a Wix air filter my bet is I'll get get another slight bump up in power.
I'll soon be getting a MAC Air Intake on my '04 F-150, 5.4L. I'll let you know how it does. I did get a Gibson exhaust and Diablo Sport Programmer and I've noticed a difference in acceleration, so I'm looking for increased performance once the MAC is in.
The Air Force One is looking the best for my 4.6L as far as numbers. It costs 269.99 as well, so I think I'm going to go with that one. Thanks for all your help!
I ordered the Volant CAI this weekend I looked at a lot thought of K&N filter Charger but I had one in my 03 Mach 1 and I didn't care for it so on all I have read I'm going with Volant CAI an Airaid throttle body spacer and a Magna flow exhaust. I'll post feelings on it next week after it's installed.
I have the Volant and it is okay.I think it is the best aftermarket available. However, if I had it to do over again, I would have modified the stock system.I would cut out a small section of flex tube prior to fender well and install plastic tee and attach a plastic pipe or rubber hose to tow hook area. With feeding cold air from both fender well and tow hook area I think would accomplish everything my Volant does.I would miss the sound the Volant allows when using right foot heavily, but would have saved alot of money.I also had a bad experience with Volant.Besides missing hardware, I have a $129 Ram Air Scoop that will not align to hook up to bottom of intake box.The people at Volant were real nice when I was questioning their product prior to purchase. However, after purchase they will not help me at all. They only have one guy that is a tech that can help and he is either never there or will not return my phone calls. They have POOR business ethics, in my opinion! If buying Volant I would suggest buying locally so the distributor can deal with them and you could return for easy refund, if problems.I also would not recommend the ram air scoop. This scoop could be easily made with hose and clamps for probably less than $10 and would actually fit.Good Luck!
I have one of the new Air Force 1's recently released by ****** Performance.
Working in conjunction with my Magnaflow exhaust and X-Calibrator tuner also from ******, it has turned my 5800# truck into something pleasurable to drive.

I just checked out the Airforce One Website I'm really not trying to be a smart a** about this but there is virtually no difference between the airforce one, the K&N, or the MAC intake first they are all open in the engine Bay second they are made out of metal which conducts heat there in turn heating the intake charge and defeating the purpose of a Cold air intake. The Volant is a: enclosed from the engine bay heat b: its made of plastic which does not conduct heat. This comes from someone who has owned a K&N intake but as far as I'm concerned the 25hp quote is hype. Just my Opinion.
Your poll will not identify which intake is preferred?I think Volant cold air intake should be separate from Airaid,AEM,MAC and K&N.Just my opinion.Good Luck!
Well I installed my Volant CAI Friday. I am not happy with the fit. The performance on the other hand Was noticable. I installed a Magnaflow catback last week and noticed a little difference, but When I installed the Volant I REALLY Noticed a difference. I just don't like how the fit is I had to pull and streatch everything to make it fit I am thinking of returning it and getting a K&N System.
killermach1, I am wondering what parts/pieces of .... from Volant you are talking about not fitting properly.I am so disappointed with Volant .... fit I could spit.Good Luck!
