Tranny Temps?
I've a 99' dually diesel F-350. What should be the normal operating range of the tranny temp? What is the max. when damage is happening or something is wrong? I think it is the 4r100?

I have a 94 F250 E4OD 4.10 with factory aux cooler and tow an 8,000# trailer and I have a Permacool external filter with temp guage.
Without a tow, my normal temperatures are usually 180 or less. It may take an hour or two at freeway speed to get to that temp. In freezing weather I may not get over maybe 150 after a long drive.
With tow, my normal cruise temp is around 180-190 after about 1 hour warm up. In hot weather with hills, and or head wind and going about 70+ I have seen the temp run around 200-210 and spiked once or twice at 220 while reversing up a long driveway.
Usually 240 is the point where the charts start saying for every 10(or so) above that you lose half the ATF life. I think I read above 300 and you roast the seals etc real quick.
