computer woes

I've been chasing a stumble in my 1988 Bronco for some months. I've tried the local independent auto repair shop (with good recommendations), and replaced the oxygen sensor, throttle position sensor, and manifold pressure sensor.

Now, I'm wondering about the computer itself. How often do these go bad and what are the usual signs? Any case of getting a good used one, rather than spending more then the truck is worth on a new one?

Thanks,
Woody

I find it highly unlikely that the computer would go bad, but the engine would continue to run. With a bad computer, I'd expect a dead car.

have you checked for codes. also after replaceing the sensors did you disconnect the battery for 15mins let the ecu power down. reconnect and drive for about 30mins so it relearns everything. whats the timing set at. when was it tuned up last. how many miles on the motor?

The Bronco got new plugs, wires, dist. cap & rotor, as well as a new battery. I'll double check timing tonight. The codes seem to jump around, the latest was TPS low signal voltage. Previously to TPS replacement, I got TPS signal over voltage. In addition to the 3 sensors indicated in first message, I've also replaced the Idle Air Control Valve. The truck ran better on the way into work this morning. I'm stumped because it changes from day to day. Now, I'm wondering about the fuel filter or pump.
