ok i have a dlink di-524 and a verizon dsl connection everthing works great a friend of mine has the same routor and he is on charter cable internet what i want to do is conect the 2 local networks togather over the internet so i can acsses his file and vice versa on any computer in the local networks on both ends is this possible or do i have to get a subsecption to some software for this to work bc as far as i know this is possible for VPN to do but i do not know how to set it up any help would be great
If it's just a matter of file sharing, running an FTP server at each location might be an option. Here's a link that explains how to do it in XP pro and other third party apps if you don' thave XP pro.
well i think i have it setup on my win 2000 server right but when i go on my desktop that is in my domain and try to connect with my ip address (internet ip) IT TRYS TO CONNECT but it says that it could not agree in PPP to use. is this bc it is inside the network already or is something screwed up
so how do i set it up on my buddy computer the is behind the firewall too with vpn pass though that is on do i just use my servers internet ip address bc that is how i have it setup inside on my desktop snd it does communicate or do i have to use the subnet mask and ip address and port number bc i am exlelent with computers but i need help with this vpn setup bc this is the first time i have set it up b4 and if anyone knows how to set it up step by step that would be great
i just cheked it on my roomates laptop that has xp pro on it and it connected to it no problem and he is inside the network and it connected so i will have to have my buddey try it and see what happens
