I have a 2000 PSD automatic. I have two questions...First, what speed is my truck governed at? Second, when I'm driving at speeds from 50 and faster and hit the brakes, I feel my truck shudder. I can feel the shaking in the steering wheel too. I know that the PSD doesn't have the same braking setup as a gasser, so I thought I'd seek some opinions on why it does this. Is it normal? Thanks for any advice!!
Not sure on the govener question but i would amagine your brake problem would be warped rotors. You can have them turned if there thick enough and that should fix it.
governor is set at about 90-92 mph... if it is stock... the new programers, like the predator, can reset this, so, testing it is the only way to know if you have the stock setting... use a dragstrip... the boys in blue don't like to see 9k-10k trucks doing 90 mph..!

You have two governors built into your PCM. 94 MPH and 3400 RPM. Chips and some tuners can raise or delete either one if you are so inclined.
My truck has had a slight shimmy in the brakes since it was new. It's not normal, just not enough to bother me. Probably a high spot on a rotor or a sticky caliper pin or something. Could be loose or worn hardware on your track bar or sway bar too.
Is this a hard braking from 50 or just normal? On a 2000.....you might be feeling ABS kicking if it's hard. Just a thought.
But more than likely.....I agree with the other members.....warped rotors is probably your trucks problem.
What you appear to have is the Ford shimmy. Mine (135K) has had them turned 3 times, replaced once and this week turned again. The shimmy will loosen your liver if you don't stay on top of it.

It's under normal braking conditions, but the truck will do the same thing if I hit the brakes hard. The truck didn't come equipped with ABS (optional for 2000 XLT), so I can rule that out right away. Thanks all for the help.
