Hey, just joined, looking for info on my 86 F250. It has a 300 IL carbureted engine coupled to a 4 spd tranny and tcase and lockout hubs. I'd like to know what axles, tcase and tranny I have. Can any of you guys tell me?

Welcome Frantheman.try doing a search in this forum for the info.there were a couplr different versions of everything you are looking to identify.i have same truck w/a deisel. good luck.
Bacicly, you have a classic work-a-holic truck, the 300 six is very durable, makes alot of torque, and reliable. There are 3 or 4 diffrent 4 speeds, and there all tough as nails. Biggest problem with these trucks is the rust.
Post your VIN number, and the axel codes off your door jamb sticker on here and that can be decoded to tell what axles you have.
Thanks guys, I'm real happy with the truck, only had it a couple of years. I bought it mostly for a beater up in the woods, but it has an amazing amount of low-end torque, so I've been kinda fixin it up and 4 wheelin it as much as possible. It has a loud bearing race sound, so I think it's time to change the throwout bearing, but if I drop the tranny/tcase, I may rebuild/replace them with something better. I've also looked into swappin the gears and maybe add a locker in the rear, that's why I need to know exactly which combination trans/tcase/axles I have. I been a chevy truck owner for many years, and they're alot easier to figure out. But, there's no lookin back because that IFS front end kicks the #@$? outta any bowtie straight axle I've ever owned!
