Throttle cable?

Doing a 352/COM to a 351W/C6 in a 66F100. The throttle cable is like new but several inches too long to hook up without a severe bend. I have done a search on this and didn't find an answer. I know some of you have run into this. What did you do? I am sure I could have a custom cable made but they are big$$$. BTW the donor was an 84F250 and the drive line(donors) was a perfect fit. I will just have to put a couple new holes in the frame for the tranny mount crossmember. How lucky is that?

Hello Ricky, The I-6 would use a longer cable because it reached over the engine, but 2 V8s should be very close to the same. I suspect there was more bend in it than you recall. That is what the bracket on the mainfold was for, to hold the cable in place.

Hey One Ford engine/tranny setup fitting where another did. What a country.

RickyD, I Have a 66 F-100 and it's cable housing is about 18" from firewall to the carb, with a minor bend in it. Mine broke and a friend has 3 66 F-250 for parts, and I got a cable off one of his and it was about 25"+ long, with a loop from the firewall to the carb.

I am using an Edelbrock Performer manifold and carb. The heigth is perfect but just too close. I suspect this carb moves the ball stud a bit farther left than a stock carb would. I also have a parts 66F250 but it has the same length cable. If I can find one long enough I wouldnt mind a loop. Possibly a bellcrank mounted forward of the carb ballstud with a short link and the cable hooked to it. I love to complicate things.
