I have a 78 Ford F250 (460 4 barrel). I want to replace the radio with a CD player. I need to get a special mounting bracket that will replace the old bracket, which included the heater controls. Does anyone know of a product that is available as a replacement for the stock radio and heater control bracket than can accomodate a CD player?
I am into this myself. Try searching CD player to read some previous posts. I plan on modifying the one in my truck and add a piece of sheet metal to it if I need too. I don't think there is any aftermarket mounts but, there might be. Good Luck!!
check my gallery. i have some pics of mine. i used a sheet metal patch pannel from my local auto part store. i cut and bent it to the right shape to follow the dash. used jb weld to fill the seams smooth and to hold it. i used very fine sand paper to smooth it. i also used wood strips on the back side that i jb welded the pannel and existing dash for support. sounds kinda redneck i know but it looks factory. take your time. jb weld holds very well to plastic and it is a pain to cut it back out if you screw up. cut and fit over and over till it is to your likeing.
if need be i will post close up photo's upon request
i am possitive you can come up with better ways. a friend is using fiberglass to do his.
