Brake problem

ok on the 2000 F350 got an issue with the brakes......

be sitting at a stop light and have your foot on the pedal (auto trans cant wait till it fails and drop a 6 speed in it) and the brakes will release and truck will move forward. i cant get it to repeat the problem with me driving it. only happens to my wife, sounds like a bad master cyl or porportioning valve? brake fluid clean no leaks anywhere. front brakes probably only have 10k on them. going to bleed down the brakes tommorow see if theres crap in the lines somewhere. has been happening with just around town driving nothing under extreme braking or heavy hauling towing.

First thoughts are the Master Cylinder bleeding by. The pressure your wife puts on the brake peddle will naturally be different than yours. You might see if you can duplicate it by varying the pressure on the brake peddle. Just some ideas. Hope they help.

I agree with touchofgrey. You can usually spot a failing master cylinder by applying the brakes and then lighten the pressure on the pedal but not fully release it. Then step down on it again. Repeat. Never fully release the pedal but step and half release, step and half release. The pedal will slowly work its way down.
