Missouri MVI Passed!
I know somebody on the A* forum recently wrote about the "ageing of the fleet," in reference to the fact that the last of our vans rolled off the line in '97. Yes, they're getting "old." Yes, they're starting to show their age. But my current unit, a '97 extended with the 4.0L engine, just continues to amaze me. With almost 200K miles on the clock, nothing really major has gone wrong or failed. I've replaced the water pump and the rack/pinion, and that's it.
Bottom line, my son took it in for the annual (or semi-annual if you buy two-year tags...) Missouri state inspection, and it passed on the first try. Still "safe," still trustworthy. Admittedly the inspection can be a mere formality depending on where the vehicle is taken, but I always take mine to a local Chevy dealer that really, really cares. I know it's not realistic to expect the van to run forever, but I'm gonna try!
