ok, this is a little weird. my clearence lights on top of the cab come on when i push the brakes but, they only do it when the key is on. they dont do it when the key is turned off. also my guage cluster light comes on when i turn the key on. all of this started happening after i insalled a cd player but, all i did was plug it into the existing wire harness so i dont think that has anything to do with it.... or does it?
Dash lights and ignition circuit both go to the radio connector.
The dash lights could also light the cab lights, but I am not seeing where the brake lights fit in that at all.
I think the radio wiring is wrong, but you also have another problem that the CD player is making worse.
A buddy of mine just bought a truck that would not run till the radio was on. The PO had installed a stereo and made quite a mess of the dash wiring.
It was kind of funny to be driving down the road and turn the radio off and the truck quite running.
on my old pickup and the one i have now i just wired both of my wires off of my cd player onto the ciggerate lighter wire u have to turn it off each time u turn the key off otherwise it stays on just like the clock does but its better than trying to figure out wires from the stock ford stereo too lol but maybe this will help ya though
i have noticed in the last few weeks that my ford has had a hard time starting. its not all the time though. sometimes it starts right up and then other times it sounds like the battery is going dead. when it does start i have noticed that there is alot more white smoke until it warmes up. could these 2 problems come from the same source.
