I own a '02 XL Sport with a 4.2 in it. I'm getting about 18-19 MPG around town, and I drive no more than 60. What are you all getting? and if it's better what have you done to achieve this mileage?
Thanks,
Smib
my average for country and city driving over the past 5 years is 19 imperial mpg or 16.1 US MPG.
Is that completely stock? I installed a K&N filter and a Tornado thing and a 50 series (1) Flowmaster muffler (NON-Catback) so maybe I'm doing alright. I did check highway mileage on about 1/2 a tank and it was getting 22 MPH running anywhere between 70-80 MPH and I have 3.55 gears.
Thanks
Smib,
Sounds like you are getting a little better than average.
Stop by the 4.2 forum - several posts there about mpg.
OBTW, my 2000 has 162,000 miles on it: 16 city 19 Interstate (70-75 mph)
I hit the 6 cylinder forum daily. I was thinking of referring Maryland also, just slipped my mind. This forum is great also with regards to the number of posts.
