<O Almost made a big mistake but the STEALERSHIP tried to screw me and I feel better about my truck rather than a new one. Here is my saga.

The decision to look at buying this truck was strictly a financial one. Wife wanted me to get a new truck

2005 F-350 DRW King Ranch 4x4 for $42,335 Listed $51,395 and $20,800 for trade in on my 2002 F350 DRW Lariat 4x2.

I was willing to put down $2,500 towards the truck as long as the payments were $600 for 60 months @ 2.9%. The salesman said that he could get it to $604 or $605 but had to get it all on paper for an exact amount. I told him we had a deal and shook hands.

Next day the salesman finally calls me and says that it does not look like we can do the deal because the trade in allowance for my truck was only going to be around $17,000 or $17,500, due to the fact that someone thought that it was a 4x4. My truck had been appraised by this STEALERSHIP in Dec 2004 and I was offered $22,500 but the numbers were just not there.

The trade in value of the truck according to Kelley Blue Book is $21,850 for excellent, $20,395 for good, and $17,875 for fair and $29,650 for retail. My personal opinion is that the truck falls in the good to excellent range leaning heavily on excellent.

I find it hard to believe that once you have a deal, shake on it and start the final paperwork that you would come back and try to rip someone off.

In my opinion there is only one thing that can be counted on and that is the word of a person. I know that in today’s society it is always easier to blame it on someone else or not deal with a problem, but my word is my bond and if I was not in a position to fulfill my word I was surely do everything in my power to make things were made right.

Sell your pickup privately, go in and pay close to invoice. I have even sold vehicles to indiv. at what the dealer was going to allow trade, just so they wouldn't make as much money on the deal, and in your situation, 12k seems like a pretty good days work.

yep, that happened to me. It was diif situation but to keep a long story short, we agreed on a price and an hour later they called and said it would be much more to do the repairs I wanted. It's their service guy that gave the original cost and the salesman promised me it would not go up!

all dealers SUCK...! i have yet to me one that wouldn't do anything to anyone for a profit... and i used to work at a STEALERSHIP, so i know... when i went to pick up my brand new 5ver last summer... i am signing the papers..! and the lady says.. oh... your trade-in is a 95..? i said yes... she says.. it says 96 on the paperwork... so she goes to the sales manager, (whom i still have never seen....), she comes back... you have to pay $600 more because of the mistake... i said no i don't think so... it's your mistake, you pay for it... she goes, comes back, says.. we'll pay half.. i said... no you didn't hear me, and if i have to say this again... the $29,500 check in my pocket will leave this building in my pocket.... 10 seconds later in rushes my "salesman" he says... don't worry about that... it was MY mistake... i'll take it out of my commision... that answer SAVED a sale for him... because i was OUT THE DOOR.... come to find out... their service dept SUCKS.... picked up the camper a week ago.. they had it for the winter for warranty work.... it didn't get washed and the battery was dead... it is not going back...

sorry for the long post... and a little off-topic... but this STEALERSHIP horror story has a lesson for all ... and the lesson is "MONEY TALKS.... B.S. WALKS....!"

What really chaps my hide is they won't return any of my calls. Sent a letter to the GM and still no response

Belive it or not I was looking at a new truck several years ago and the wife went by to get a price on it. They gave her a price and when I went there the next day they tried to jack it up 1500 about 10 to 15% at the time and said that they could not sale the truck at that price or they would lose money on it. Needless to say I told the salesman what I thought and went the same day to a differant dealer and bought a new truck. The dealer is in town but I'll go out of town and but before I would buy from them. I've tried to use them several times and they tried to screw me every time but I walked out before they could.

I know the drill; I was in the market for a new SUV, after the wife took the old SUV for a roll or three. I went to my favorite ford dealer, and found a 2000 EX PS with most of the bells and whistles. I thought that after buying 4 other cars, vans, and SUVs I had a good working relationship with the people of the dealership. I tried to strike a fair deal, and countered with a $2000 price reduction, in hope to split the difference. The response I received was surprising to say the least, the price dropped $180 and that’s all. The dealer was awful proud of that truck and was not afraid to let me know about it. He said that it was the only one like it in the whole state. Well I let him stew for a few days and checked back in to see if his mind had changed at all, it did not and I walked. I am now the proud owner of a great car from a private owner. I have kept my eye on the EX and now that it is 5 months later it is still on the lot, HEHEHEHE. Oh well, the wife just love the car and so do I, But I would have loved the EX and all it had to offer.
