302 Buildup
Okay, i'm 17, soon to be 18, and for our 11th grade auto class, i'd like to build up my 302. It came out of an 85 f150, and the engine has allready been overhauled. It is EFI, the speed density system. This is where my concerns are. I want to put in 24 lb/hr injectors, and a bigger cam, but are both compatible? The engine is out of the truck, and is actually being professionaly cleaned and having new cam bearings installed as we speak. Here are the specs, its allready been bored .040 over, and has .010 undersize bearings (rod and mains) in it allready. What is a good cam to get, i'm only 17 and dont have an unlimited budget, Will one of those 85 dollar summit cam and lifter combo's work? or am i asking for trouble? next, when i get a rebuild kit, where isa good place to get it? Also, what are some other mods to do to it? I allready have an aftermarket control module, 52,000 volt coil, new plug wires, i want to get a new cam, 24 lb/hr fuel injectors, underdrive pullies, port and polish job (myself), what else is there?

Call compcams or crane cams about the best cam. They are not that much more expensive than the summit cams. Rebuild kit from Summit runs about $300. You can port the heads mainly on the exhaust side.. You have to be careful with the mods on a speed density system because the ECM can't handle a lot of mods.
