Hello all. I have not posted in a while due to being very busy. My previous post with this matter was not resolved after taking my 05 expy in for the second time. The dealer balanced all four tires and the vibration between 75-80mph has not gone away. The first time I took it in the service rep said that the technician said there was no vibration/could not take it above the 60mph speed limit in VA. They later said they took it up to 70 and felt no vibration. I have a gut feeling the vibration is in the tires. I know some of you with the 03's have had problems with the rack, but I have gathered that they have updated and fixed this problem in the 05's.
When I drive the truck between 75-80mph my arm is shaking from the vibration and it gets worse as I go faster. I have had this problem since day one with this truck. I only have 2,700 miles on it so far. The dealership I bought the truck from has a good sales dep., however the service department is pitiful in their work and customer relations. I am finding it really hard to deal with this dealership if the service people will not even acknowledge that a problem exists, especially one that has plagued many 03-05 expy's. I really do not want to keep taking it in and nothing get done. These people apparently do not want to get repeat business from me - we are actually thinking of getting a Mustang GT soon.
If I were to go to another dealership, are they required to provide the same level of service for a new truck under warranty as the dealership I bought my truck from? Will they send me back to the original dealership if the tires need to be replaced, or is this taken care of by Ford regardless of where it was purchased? I live in Springfield, VA and if any of you guys can suggest a good Ford dealership in the area I would appreciate it. Ted Britt Ford has lost my business due to the way we have been treated, especially after purchasing a $49,000 truck.
You can take the truck to ANY Ford-authorized warranty repair center. This is not a dealer-exclusive list, so if you just don't want to use another dealerhsip, call around to some of the independent shops and ask if they are an authorized warranty repair center.
MMM - I had a similar prob after putting 20s on my 03EB. Turned out to be bad tires. I went through 7 to get 4 good ones! Only way to fix is to use a road force balancer. I went to Discount Tire. Balancer located heavy spots on wheel & tire. Techs repositioned tire on rim & it fixed the problem.
