Take off from Chesapeake kinda early and you should be able to make it up there in less than three hours. If you like, we can convoy (I like that better than 'caravan'-lol) up there.

I'm no too trusting of my truck right to depend on it for a long trip I'll be there, but probably in a rental. Do you mind if I tag along Stu? Never been up that way. . .ever. . . Also, where are the gas stations at up there, if any? And when do you plan on leaving Stu, assuming (I know. . .) you can get off?

Ride along, if you want to. I don't mind. I haven't told the wife, yet, that I am going up there, so no promises yet, but I think she'll be okay with it.

Ahh! Fordguy21, good to hear from yah! PM sent And Stu, I didn't mean for that to sound like I was bumming a ride I was wondering if I could tag along with your convoy, and then the other related traveling info. And bring your wife! She'll have a blast The offer was nice though, may have to take you up on it as a last resort

EDIT: Yeah, I will be leaving Saturday morning to head up there in something. Looks like there will be a couple of us heading up there around that time.

Ok, Actually thinking about it and where people will be meeting, I believe I might be able to go . I"m not sure what i can bring, Basically If there's stuff that needs to be brought at the last minute i can do it. Actually I can probably easily bring water. Don't see a problem in bringing more. Think i have to work that sat but i can adjust that no problem if i Do. Think my issue was just how much gas i'm going to be using, but oh screw it, kinda one of those things where it's worth it. I'll be coming from Cburg, blacksburg
prob would be would be caravan A.

ok If anyone is interested in using the swift run entrance (Caravan B) thats in Elkton, thats the one I'm going to use because thats where I live, but I haven't been up on the park for years. If anyone is in the area and is going to use this entrance just let me know and we could meet and head on up there together.

I really wouldn't have any issue with going up to swiftrun, I don't knwo if anyone else is coming up from my area. would give me more highway miles (better mileage :-) )

Sounds like your comming up 81 and then taking on 64 to Waynesboro. Really the drive between the Rockfish Gap (Wanyesboro) and Swiftrun (Elkton) entrances is only 35 min and thats not on the parkway. I'm sure it would take a lot longer going that route because of the speed limit on the park. Even for people comming up 64 from Richmond way I'd still reccommend the Swiftrun entrance it's a lot closer than the other one cause it's so far out of the way. If anyone is comming up 64 and wanting to go this route I can give directions.

That's what i'm getting at, figure it would be easier to drive up to SwiftRun (avoid lower speed in park) at bottom entrance. I'd figure drive up 81 further then get off at harrisonburg then take 33 over.
