Leaf springs

I have a F250 crew PSD 6.0, FX4 package. My question is.......... My front suspension has four leaf springs and my rear has ten leaf springs. Any idea what my payload potential is???? I don't think think this is stock, since F350's come with two on the front on seven on the back.....

Exclamation Dangerous Potential

I would say that your truck has been modified. Am I also to assume that you bought this truck used since you are questioning this set-up? My advice is simple; Stronger springs do not necessarily mean a stronger truck therefore I would respect the vehicle weight ratings printed on the vehicle safety information tag found on the driver's door jamb.

Typically, when I see spring and suspension modifications its done to level a truck, raise a truck or correct a lean condition caused by custom bodies and uneven loading. (not always safe in my opinion) The most common modification I see is a 2" lift on the front axle to level a stock 4X4 and in my opinion it looks great.

Interesting, one of the dealers I talked to suggested adding a leaf since I had a fairly heavy camper. Interesting though that the new F350 doesn't squat near as much as my old F350.

Any idea why they manufacture them with that 'raked' look instead of level? Suggestions on the best way to level?

Adding a leaf or two to the spring is a perfectly acceptable way to level out a loaded truck as long as you are not trying to cheat the rating of the truck.

Ok, I didn't know if there was a preferred method, lift blocks vs. springs vs. ....

Probably on that borderline of cheating... with a 3500 lb slide in camper. I'm guessing he was thinking of adding a leaf to relieve some of the work of the airbags.

Thanks

I ordered my truck with the plow prep package and the truck sits nice and level. I also put at set of BFG all terrain t/a's 285's and it looks great. Love the truck.
