I've finally chose my engine for my 56 pick-up. It's a 429. I really couldn't have passed this deal up, how often do you find a 429 for free?!I think the engine is a 429 simply cause the valve cover has the 429 label on it. But I don't know what year it is or even where to look on the block to find out more about it. So far I've just found, I think it's (DOVE-C) on the passenger side head and thats it. There still is lots of junk on the block that I have to clean off. Where should I look for some serial numbers on it? Any help would be great!

Those heads are off a 1970 429 or 460
The only way to tell the difference between a 429 and 460 is to look at the crank.
