Air injection questions

Alright, I broke the air injection manifold when I was putting the hood back on my truck. My question is, since I don't run a cat and seeing as though I can't find a new manifold anywhere (or know the correct terminology for the part) can I just remove the manifold, plug the holes in the head and be rid of the smog pump without the ECM throwing any codes at me? By the way, the truck is a 95 4x4 5-speed with the 4.9.

I've been running without mine for a long time with no problems. IIRC, the thread on the holes is a 9/16-18. Some say it's a pipe thread, but a pipe thread didn't work on mine.
