alright im trin to switch my dash from my f150 to my bronco and my hayne manual says i need a "hook tool" to remove my lights and windsheild wiper *****? any suggestions on what i can use?
i belive the windshield wiper **** comes off with a very small hex key bit, from the ones if have seen, but i am not sure about the lights switch, when i had to get into my dash i kinda stopped and let that be, - matt
When I go tot turn on my headlights I usually wind up pulling on the windshield wiper one. I have pulled it off so many time, I would still try to do it the right way though.
Bottle opener. Works just as well on the light/wiper ***** as a bottle of Labbatt Blue. If only Snap-On made them. Seriously though, I have one in my tool box, and it works like a champ.
so they can just be pulled off? i mean i dont want to break them or anything
Yes, but the light **** has a little metal tang in it. Pull the **** like you would turn the lights on, then use your hooked tool (screwdriver, bottle opener, whatever you come up with) to depress the tang and pull. If the tang breaks the **** will pop off every time you turn the lights on.
They make these nifty little dental tools that you can pick up at your hardware store... one actually has a metal hook on the end of it that comes to a sharp point. Stanley and I think Craftsman also make them. The tab it is speaking of is a friction type connector. When you pull on the hook tool with the tip of the hook inside the **** it will pull that little tab towards you and your **** will fall off into your hand... I would bet you could probably use a bent paper clip or a fish hook, just as easily.
I had to pull my dash apart about 4 times in one weekend on my F150 and I am about to do it again on my Bronco... There really is no substitute for having the right tool for the job. Especially when it comes to the dash. I swear Ford must have copied the design from the Japanese, that thing is a PAIN IN THE... well you know...
