Offroading on LI
Does anyone from Long Island know a good place to go off roading? I've had my 98 Expy for a little over a year and I just wanted to have a little fun with it, nothing too extreme. I just wanna get my feet wet so to speak. I'm gonna get a fishing permit so I can take on the beach. I'm wondering if there are some trails somewhere I can try out. I'm in Nassau Co.

Out in Suffolk there is a "fire Road" off route 111 in Manorville on the east side of the road just about opposite Hot Water Street, it goeas a couple of miles easily and comes out at the intersection of rt 24 and the LIE in Riverhead. Actually looking at the maps.google.com site it is marked as Hot Water Street and you turn left on toppings path and continue till you hit a paved road which is 24. Pretty tame but a nice little ride.

I know in Queens there is place to go its in the rockaways going into breezy point,I know you do have to get yearly permit and i believe it is like $50 for it,I dont know how far out you are in nassua but i am in brooklny and want to get 1 to do fishing sounds like fun on the beach let me know and if you know any places as well!!

i went out to that place in manorville i thought that it was great.i went w/ my 90 bronco, my friend bought his 04 wrangler and a gmc 1500 pickup we all had a blast.Got stuck a few times but the wrangler has a winch so that was no problem.There was also some realy nice mud puddles there.If anyone else knows of anywhere differant please let me know.
