I'm looking at installing a remanfactured motor (302) in my truck. i want to replace the worn out headers that are on there now. whats a good replacement for my daily driver? sumit? what others.....thanks..
I've been very happy with my Ford motorsport stainless steel shorties. They may cost more but they should last a long time. The power gains were good in the mid to upper rpm range and the sound of my exhaust improved a little too.
Don't get fooled into the "fit to stock y-pipe." I've heard several occasions where they buy headers of other exhaust parts that claim to match up with existing ones and don't. For a daily driver I would go with the Summitt Racing headers as they are a little cheaper and will have the same increase in power compared to most shorty styles. However, they may not last as long as the expensive ones, but you get what you pay for. Mine have almost been on for 2 years and I haven't had any problems with them.
I dont have a Y-pipe, but the piping after the exhaust manifords is identical. That could be the reason, but I don't think that there would be too much difference there.
