I hate rust but it is a fact of life when working on older vehicles in our country. I have never learned how to suceessfully repair rust so have to depend on other more skilled people. Pays to pick your projects carefully, rust repair can add up in a hurry. Always nice to find a fairly rust free older vehicle and the mechanical repair I can handle.
Rust can be hidden. Seen lots of good vehicles that look good, but when you look inside the fenders in some of the remote corners are rust holes and they are not easy to get at to repair.
When I worked in the shops back in the 70's I remember the Honda civics. Some would come in looking great , but inside the fenders the top of the unibody a brace would be rusted out. It seemed when ever we were replacing a fender from an accident. We always were replacing these braces, because they were rusted away. You could not see them til you took the fender off.
When you see rust you got to look further and you will probally see more on other areas behind the rusted area you see. I hate it too, but it is a fact of what we have torepair for the love of our hobby of these trucks.
