Adding a trip computer?

I have a '93 XL and was curious how hard it would be to add a trip computer.

What is required as far as additional wiring, sensors, and how much would all the parts cost?

Thanks!

I picked up a used trip computer on eBay and it came with a plethora of wires that needed spliced into the existing wiring harness - at least 8 if memory serves. After all that, it would not calculate correctly - due in part I believe because I do not have any digital gauges or sending units. I wound up taking it out. However, someone else on this forum attempted the same thing and managed to get it to work. I never found out if they had digital to begin with or not.

i got a trip computer for my 91 3.0 shorty. i was just wandering the junkyard looking for eddie bauers to scalp goodies out of for my bare bones aero. and I got electric seats, and the cool aircraft style dome lights, and then got the trip meter.

i was not allowed to take any extra wire, as the U-Pull it yard here has a no cut rule. so all i got was the computer and the short harness and plug. lucky for me, my aero had the matching plug up in the headliner already.

my aero again was a bare bones 91 3.0 2wd shorty, with regular, non-digital gauges, even the odometer and trip odometer where non-digital.
