Thinking of taking a nice camping trip sometime this summer to Big Bend...

Anyone ever go camping out in the backcountry there? How bad are the "4wd" roads? You never know with the way the Nation Park Service describes them. Any useful tips or advice?

I have seen some pictures, looks beautiful.. but I bet its gunna be hot as a mother in the summer time! We shall see..

Well.. thought I would throw this idea up in the air to see if anyone had any comments/advice/pics/etc. Thanks.

i've been campin out there once. it was ABSOLUTLY gorgeous. it was really cool cause when we were out there it was when that comet Hail-bob or somethign liek that was cruising by and it was so cool out there to see it. i have no idea how the roads are out there in the park. for the most part when i was otu there we were at an old village site outside of Lajitas doing an Eagle project...so not much tie to cruise around...that and i was like 12 at the time (so, nearly 10 years ago give or take..). but yes, it is HOT, but if i remember correctly, it was a pretty dry heat. i reccomend it, i wanna go back out there someday again...

Definantly go to Lajitas to check it out, its expensive but nice. Or eat at Marathon at the Guage Hotel on the way back. Great steakhouses.
