Timing setting for 460
G'Day All
I just got myself an Old Ford F-150 with a 460 motor in it and was wondering what the timing should be set at.
Me being from Australia and living in USA now I don't know alot about 460s They are like hens teeth in Aussie

Put her on 10. Really though, as they get older the timing chain stretches and right on the mark isn't always right for every engine. Tuned for your engine, this is for everone, advance the timing, a little at a time, until the engine starts to spark knock/ping under a load, then back it off/lower it, a little at a time, just until the knock stops. If you later check it with a light, it will be within a couple of degrees of what it's supposed to be. If it's not, either you have some serious problems about to occur or you have already made some serious changes.
