Help 96 Ford Explorer 02 Question
Hi
I am new here I have a Question I Have A 96 for explorer with5.0 v8 in it.
about a month ago my muffler was getting loud so i stopped a local shop and they put it up to look found a bad gasket 2 lost bolts witch they fixed and an o2 sensor fell out so they put it back in now last week a check engin lite came on got the codes p0161 and p0402 which are
161 is o2 sensor heater circuit malfuction(bank2 sensor 2)
402 is exhaust gas recirculation flow excessive dectected
need to know what this looks like what side the o2 sensior is on and any help would be great

It is for the Taurus SHO, but the codes, descriptions and diagrams apply to your explorer as well.
Bank 1 is on the passenger side and bank 2 is on the driver's side.
Sensor 1 is before the cat and sensor 2 is downstream.
FYI, on my explorer (96 V8 AWD), the connectors are on top of the transfer case and are accessed through a panel underneath the console. Quite a pain to get to.
