i was just woundering if anyone else had the automatic lights on their truck, or did someone put this on aftermarket on my 2000 f-250 lariat. if it is a true ford component how do you defeat it. i dont like sitting along the road parked and having my lights shine in everyones eyes. thanks
Don't know on the trucks but I have had the automatic lights on almost every car I have owned since 1986(86TBird, 89SHO, 95 Villager, 96 SS, 04 LS all have them, 94F250 doesn't). In general I don't care all that much for them. They turn on way before I want them to.
Most of the tlights were controlled by the light switch. Something like Off, Parking, On, Daylight Sentinal(or something like that). None that I recall had an adjustment. Either they were Daylight Sentinal or On.
Until I get well into summer, I usually turn the daylight sentinal off since I don't like the lights coming on at 7am when the sun is up or at 5pm when it isn't down. A quirk of mine. I really wish they would make a sensitivity control to adjust for how much daylight I need before the control takes over. On the checbby website they were able to get some adjustment by moving the light sensor up and down inside the mount on the dash.
Like I said don't know about Ford truck daylight sentinel(or whatever), so don't know if my explanation helps.
My 03' has the Advanced Security Group option. Part of this option was auto headlamps. Now your switch must be different than mine. I have four settings. All the way left is auto. One click to the right is OFF. Two clicks to the right is parking lights and all the way to the right is headlamps and parking lights on. Plus with the fog lamps you can pull them on is auto, parking, and headling position.
I like the feature. Second truck I owned with it.
Ford does sell and daytime running light kit that can be dealer installed. Maybe what you have also.
I don't think the 2000s came with the auto lights... i think that feature came out later. My 02 has them, however my dad's 00 does not. The ford automatic light can be turned on and off right at the light switch. it has, from left to right: "auto, off, parking, headlights"
