Help!
I have a 99 ranger 3.0 5sp auto trans. Whenever I floor it, the truck hesitates between 55 and 60. First I thought the engine was hesitating, but, now I don't think it is the engine. I dont have a muffler so it's kinda loud, and the exhaust dont sound like it is missing. It feels more like the transmission is trying to shift but changes it's mind. I replaced the tranny filter today and it didn't seem as bad, but it's still there. I do think it could idle smoother. maybe the dpfe? Any info is appreciated.

well guys i have officially ruled out the engine. it seems that when i floor it from a stop it does it. but when running about 50 then floor it it doesnt. but it feels like im in a lower gear when i do it at 50 than from a dead stop. hesitation is between 55 and 60

Any CEL? Have you tried pulling the codes? you may have codes with or without a cel. I am not sure if you are saying it is not down shifting right or not. Try it with the overdrive turned off..then try it in 3rd gear.
