Dodge CD Player Interchangability

Girlfriend has a 2001 Dodge Stratus (I know, I had no say in the decision), I am trying to find a factory CD Player that will replace her factory cassette player. I need to know what years will fit and work properly with that car. There always seems to be 2002 CD Players for sale but I don't know if it will work in her car.

I took the factory AM/FM cassette player out of my wife's '98 G. Caravan and put an Alpine unit in. Fantastic sound.

I priced the factory CD player. . . . too darn much!

She totalled the van. First thing outta that crunched up Mopar . . . Alpine.

Still have both. Alpine goin' in another car.

The reason I ask is because my girlfriend wants the stock look. She gets way to uptight and always thinks something is going to happen to her car, like getting broken into, thus her mentality is to have something that looks stock? I gave up arguing with her 4 years ago.

In my limited experience w/ this topic I've found that as long as your aren't swapping an "infinity" unit for a base or vice versa there aren't any problems assuming your using the "din and a half" type systems. The only other thing is some have rounded corners, some are squared off, these also need to correspond. pretty sure '01-'04 all have rounded corners. Hope this helps a little.

well get something that you will not have to worry about.

Go to your local wal-mart and get something cheap to go in it

I understand the security aspect. Even if you get one w/ a detachable face and use it there are crooks who will bust your window anyway, to see if you just stuck it under your seat/in the console. They may also think you could have more stereo equipment in the trunk, even if you don't, anything else valuable to them is gone.
