How does a person fix a lumbar support in a bucket seat? 96 f-150 eddie bauer. I sat down one day a felt if snap or give way. Motor still works but something seems off track. Can I get to it or replace the seat?
I had a 97 F-150 XLT, it didn't have power lumbar, but a turn crank on the side of the seat and on day I sat in it an the lumbar broke. I pulled up the seat fabric on the back of the seat and saw that two welds had broken where the lumbar cable was attached, I simply welded it back together and didn't have anymore problems. I'm not sure what the bucket seats in your truck are like, or if you can even pull the fabric up from the behind. The seats in my 97 were the 60/40 split bench seats.
Might be best to pull the seat out so you can turn it over to get a good look at the guts and see whats up. Easy to do, pull out the 2 bolts that hold the front of the seat tracks to the floor, then move the seat forward to get at the 2 nuts in rear. Then unplug wire and lift. They are easy to take out and put in. May want to put a drop of oil on each front bolt before screwing back in, because the front bolts stick down through the floor pan.
