Alright, so I'm new to the forum, this is my second post and I'm hoping you guys can help me out a bit. I just recently bought a 1970 F250 Camper Special... I have since installed a CD Player into it, but am having some problems with it. The stereo works great in the truck with the exception of when I use other devices (i.e. headlights, wipers, turn signals, brakes)... the stereo cuts off (but automatically turns back on) when I start using these things. Like if the stereo is on and I turn the headlights on, the stereo cuts off for a brief second until the lights come on, once it's back on all is good again (and lights function normally). Same thing with everything else... if I push the brake pedal in, it cuts off until I release the brake... or if the turn signal is on, it cuts on and off with the rythem of the blinker.
Thought it could be related to a grounding issue so I replaced my battery cables (both ground & B+)...nothing. So then I ran a seperate ground from the block to the frame... still nothing. Does anybody have any idea what I might try? Or could it be alternator related (sometimes once it warms up, the problem goes away).
I would check where you got +power from. You can troubleshoot by getting power straight from the +battery post, it should be constant. Most players get the power from the hot ignition wire and memory back-up from the battery (since it's not switched off). Something does sound amiss.

The way I have it setup right now is I have a seperate B+ fuse block (sourced straight off of battery) mounted to my driver's side inner fender. I installed it there so I would have a good "constant hot" source to run any accessories (i.e. my CB, my stereo, etc..) without having to worry about reconnecting a bunch of ring-terminals to my battery post everytime I disconnected the battery to work on the truck. Do you think running it straight to the battery would make a difference?
What about my ignition sense? Right now I have it fed from the OE fuse panel under the driver side dash? Do you think that could play a part in it? Not sure what the fuse I'm tapping off of controls, but I have tried switching to a different fuse with no luck.
you can run a wire (insulated ofcourse) from your + battery to the fuse box where you have it hooked up now. Just unhook it from the fuse box and connect it to the wire you just ran. Your stereo should operate correctly with the exception of it swithching off when you turn the key off (don't forget to turn it off or you'll run down your battery). But back to the problem, I wonder if it could be the voltage regulator. that would be an easy fix. Or it could be a short somewhere that might take some snooping with a test lite.
