Question Distributer

I have a 1983 F150 4x4 with a 302 in it. i am putting new head gaskets on it but the distributer will not come out. is there a lock pin or something holding it from coming out or something.
also i was wondering if i sould put new bearings in it sence i ran it with water in the oil , i was going to rebuild the motor but i decided not to put the money into it sence i will be getting rid of it this fall.....

There is no lock pin holding it in, only the hold down bolt. You need to pry, lift and twist it out and use some WD40.
All of the sixes, 302's and 351's I have pulled out have well worn (bad) rod and main bearings.
I can guarantee yours are borderline (does it knock on a cold start-up)
Do you have low oil press. after slowing from highway speeds to a stop.
Maybe a lower end knock or lifter tick?
No sense replacing the bearings on a old motor that really needs a rebuild!
