Expedition gets t-boned

Yesterday afternoon my wife and two of my kids, (1yr. & 5yrs old) were in an accident. She was through the intersection when a guy in pick up truck drove into the drivers side door. Drivers side all smashed in, drivers window blew out, mirror is gone pretty bad accident and no one was hurt at all. Expy had 10,000 miles on it and my wife loved this truck. I told they make plenty more if they can't fix this one. I guess my point here is thank god she was driving this kind of vehicle. If she was driving any kind of car it would have been much worse. I believe now that this is a much safer vehicle to drive. You never can predict whats going to happen but from now on I will not consider anything else for them to ride in.
Who cares if it uses too much gas, my family got to come home from this one!

Glad to hear everyone's OK. That's the important thing. Now you have to deal with the insurance company. Hopefully the pickup driver's got coverage with a good company. With such a new vehicle, I'd think it would be unlikely that this kind of damage would total the vehicle. Hope you get it back on the road soon!

I also wanted to say I am glad your family is okay and thankfully they were riding in such a big safe vehicle. I am with you on the gas part, I don't care about how much she uses as long as she takes care of me like she did with your family.

Glad the important things are ok! The way it sounds your Expy will be totaled so get to shopping. My friend had an accident where only the back door was hit and they wouldn't repair it.

Well I dont think Expy will be totaled like was tought. It is a 2004 XLT with some goodies in it and we have only had it 9 months. Insurance adjuster is going to meet with auto body repair shop tomorrow - they will nickel and dime each other to death I'm sure. Good thing is what was hit cannot be repaired because it is so damaged - it has to be replaced with new parts.

Depends on the talent of the body shop. If they know what they're doing, and the insurance company doesn't try to stint too much on the cost, it can be repaired. Even if the frame is somehow beyond the point of no return, the body can be lifted off the chassis, the old frame can be slid out from underneath, and a new one slid in place.
