can any body tell me how much pressure should be coming out of the lift pump ? i have a good flow but no pressure.another question, how much pressure dose it take to supply the ip.truck stopped ,no fuel at injectors ,fuel at the outlet of filterso i changed the ip, fuel return lines are clear.i can not get fuel through the ip .i opened all injector lines , cranked in 15 second intervils, letting starter cool a couple of minutes ,no fuel.what did i miss,i would be greatfull for any info.thanks
Do an electrical test of all the connections to the IP when cold they should all have 12V key on, after the engine reaches 112*f then only the fuelshutoff solenoid FSS will have power.
Visit.......for IP pics and GP/IP wiring schematic, check the engine to main harness connection too.
Do pressure and flow test on the fuel at the Schrader valve on the filter(FSS- fuel shutoff switch disconnected). Remove the tire valve core and hook a hose and pressure guage on it should see 4-6 psi when cranking. Then do a fuel quantity test same place, should see 1/3 pint in 10 seconds of engine cranking, route fuel to a suitable container with a hose.
If there is a problem with the lift pump and you are changing it, ensure the new pump comes with instructions as to correct installation proceedure if it is the newer model pump with the almost straight arm.
thanks PLC7.3 my lift pump tested good ,so did all power sources,so i changed to another ip. bleed it off and it fired up .cant believe another ip went bad so fast!
