C6 Torque Converter/Flexplate Problem
Ok here goes....I have a 1990 F150 that used to have a AOD tranny in it. Put a C6 in it from another F150 that I had. It was a 88 f150 w/351w. The 90 has a 302. Put the converter in from the 88 and the C6, got a new flexplate for the 302, slapped it all together and the motor wont thing wont turn when you tighten all the bellhousing bolts down. When you loosen them a little it turns. The only 2 things that i think it can be after going thru some posts are that the torque converter is not seated all the way onto the tranny and needs to be taken apart and turned on there all the way OR the 351/C6 torque converter is different from the c6/302 torque converter. I know the flexplate is diff and I think I got the right one at the junk yard after some comparisons to the c6/351 flexplate. Stumped. Anyone got any ideas. Thanks in advance.

did you make sure that notchs in the shaft of the torque converter line up in the front pump section on the transmission before you tighten up the bell housing bolts. this might cause it to lock up when you tighten up the bolts.

This may or may-not apply to your problem, but are the bolts that attach the flexplate to the crank too long? Just because they worked on one flexplate does not mean they will work on your new f-plate. Bolts that are too long will come out of the tail end of the crank and bind up on internals.
